Community Kitchen Animator

Corbeille de Pain is a community organization serving the West Island of Montreal. The organization offers various community programs and works with local partners to strengthen food security initiatives and support community well-being.

Job description :

The Community Kitchen Animator is responsible for creating and delivering workshops for youth, seniors, and the general public.

These workshops focus on helping participants adopt healthy eating habits through education and practical cooking skills. The role also ensures the effective operation of all workshops and supports community outreach activities.

Specific Working Conditions

  • Hourly wage of $20 to $22 based on experience
  • 8 to 20 hours per week
  • Flexibility required for weekdays, evenings, and weekends
  • Planning and leading 1 to 3 cooking workshops per week
  • Various locations throughout Montreal’s West Island
  • Valid driver’s licence required
  • Access to a vehicle required
Responsibilities :
  • Design and facilitate cooking workshops.
  • Ensure all ingredients, tools, and workshop materials are prepared in advance.
  • Maintain pantry cleanliness.
  • Update inventory as required.
  • Support food security through education on cooking skills, nutrition, and budgeting.
  • Help reduce food waste through seasonal cooking practices.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed during workshops.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops with guest home chefs.
  • Participate in food preparation activities for Corbeille de Pain events.
  • Promote organizational programs within the local community.
  • Encourage participant registration.
  • Collaborate with McGill University dietetic interns to create educational materials.
  • Work in alignment with other organizational programs.
  • Participate in program outreach and evaluation activities.
  • Collaborate with other West Island organizations.
Candidate profile :
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Intermediate writing skills.
  • Additional languages are considered an asset.

  • Strong meal-planning and cooking skills.
  • Understanding of nutrition principles.
  • MAPAQ certification is considered an asset.

  • Ability to lift 22 kg while following safety procedures.
  • Canning experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with people of various ages, cultural backgrounds, and individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of food security issues is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Google Docs, and Airtable is considered an asset.
