Women’s Shelter Intervention Worker

The West Island Women’s Shelter (RFOI) is a non‑profit organization supporting women and children affected by domestic violence. It provides shelter, support and specialized services in a dynamic and mission‑driven environment.

Job description :

The Intervention Worker provides psychosocial support to women and their children in a shelter setting. The role focuses on empowerment, crisis intervention and daily support within a shared living environment.

Responsibilities :

Intervention

  • Manage crisis line and provide support
  • Assess housing requests and welcome new residents
  • Provide one-on-one support
  • Assist clients in their personal processes
  • Handle crisis situations
  • Plan and facilitate group activities
  • Maintain and update case files

Community life

  • Foster a safe, respectful and supportive environment
  • Encourage solidarity among residents
  • Ensure adherence to house rules

Development

  • Support community outreach initiatives
  • Participate in internal committees
  • Contribute to tool development related to domestic violence
  • Facilitate prevention and awareness activities
Candidate profile :
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychoeducation, criminology, psychology, sexology or related field
  • Strong French and English skills (additional language an asset)
  • Experience in intervention (domestic violence an asset)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to build trust and group cohesion
  • Autonomous, adaptable and proactive
  • Empathy, discretion and professionalism
  • Interest in feminist and community work
