Occupational Therapist

The West Island Women’s Shelter (RFOI) is a non‑profit organization supporting women and children affected by domestic violence. It provides shelter, socio‑legal support and external follow‑up services. The organization is known for its interdisciplinary approach, research involvement and supportive work environment.

Job description :

The organization is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join its interdisciplinary team specializing in domestic violence. The role involves supporting women in their daily functioning, particularly in addressing the impacts of trauma and brain injuries, to help restore autonomy and well‑being.

Responsibilities :

Assess daily living activities (ADLs) of clients
Evaluate functional abilities and develop intervention plans
Raise awareness of the functional impacts of brain injuries
Develop, restore and maintain functional skills
Adapt environments to support autonomy
Collaborate on interdisciplinary intervention plans
Provide follow‑up support to mothers
Participate in research projects with academic partners
Supervise interns as needed

Candidate profile :

Member of the Quebec Order of Occupational Therapists
Strong French and English skills (additional language an asset)
Interest in feminist and community-based work
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to adapt to complex client realities
Empathy, discretion and professionalism
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
