Product Line Leader

Job description :

Reporting to the Global Director of Product Lines, the Product Line Leader is responsible for executing the technical roadmap and overseeing lifecycle activities for an assigned product line.

This role acts as the key connection between Technology & Product Development teams and Market Business Units, ensuring products meet customer expectations while achieving cost, performance, and profitability objectives.

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional collaboration, drive roadmap execution, oversee product changes, and ensure alignment across SMARDT’s global product portfolio.

Responsibilities :

Technical Roadmap Execution

  • Develop and execute the technical roadmap and release schedules.
  • Translate market requirements into actionable development plans.
  • Track technical milestones and identify risks.
  • Implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain portfolio visibility through reporting and governance processes.

Product Performance & Competitiveness

  • Support cost optimization initiatives.
  • Contribute to benchmarking and product performance analysis.
  • Align product initiatives with customer requirements and business goals.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between technical feasibility, cost, and market needs.

Cross-Functional Improvement

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Commercial teams.
  • Drive product performance improvements and upgrades.
  • Leverage internal centers of excellence to support development efforts.
  • Lead weekly product line meetings and execution reviews.
  • Coordinate R&D deliverables related to product modifications.

Product Change Governance

  • Ensure visibility and proper tracking of product changes.
  • Verify that modifications are documented and aligned with global strategies.
  • Assess impacts on functionality, performance, and compliance.
  • Maintain consistency across the global product portfolio.

Risk Management

  • Identify and escalate project risks.
  • Lead cross-functional problem resolution efforts.
  • Develop contingency plans for schedule, cost, or performance risks.
  • Maintain clear documentation of decisions and trade-offs.
Candidate profile :

Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in HVAC, thermal systems, or engineered equipment industries.
  • Experience in product management, product development, systems engineering, or industrialization.
  • Experience working within international matrix organizations.
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical, commercial, and manufacturing teams.
  • Knowledge of chiller technologies, heat pumps, and cooling systems is highly desirable.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent business education is considered a strong asset.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and thermodynamics.
  • Understanding of product development and lifecycle management processes.
  • Business acumen with the ability to balance performance, costs, and market requirements.
  • Ability to translate market needs into structured technical requirements.
