Assistant Manager

Job description
Under the supervision of the general manager, the assistant director’s main mandate will be to coordinate the day camp and participate in various center projects and events. This role requires strong organizational skills, mobilizing leadership and a keen sense of collaboration.
Responsibilities
Main mandate – Day camp :
- Plan outings and special activities.
- Recruit, train and supervise animation staff and camp leaders (approx. 40 employees).
- Prepare employee schedules and organize pre-camp training.
- Planning and teaching DAFA training.
- Organize weekly meetings with camp leaders.
- Manage the camp budget and track materials.
- Ensure the smooth running of the camp by being present in the field.
- Maintain safety and compliance with CLL criteria.
- Provide professional follow-up to parents and write the final camp report.
Other mandates :
- Organize one-off events at the center.
- Collaborate with management on funding applications and strategic projects.
- Participate in the search for partners, sponsors and funders.
- Contribute to the planning and organization of fundraising activities.
- Support the recreation coordinator as needed.
Profile required
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, recreology or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in day camp or summer camp coordination.
- Management and administrative skills.
- DAFA diploma (asset).
- Team spirit, cooperation and respect.
- Available for all camp and training weeks.
- Judgment, flexibility, autonomy and dynamism.
- Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
- First-aid training (available at the precamp).
- Fluent in French and English, Spanish an asset.
Benefits
- Salary: from $30.00/hour.
- Hours: 35 h/week (variable in summer: 35-40 h).
- Start date: January 12, 2025.
- Vacations: 2 weeks after one year + Christmas vacations (Dec. 24 to Jan. 2) + public holidays.
