Local economic development consultant

The mission of the Corporation de développement économique et communautaire CDEC is to promote sustainable economic and social development by and for individuals, organizations, businesses and institutions within its territory. The approach is inclusive and seeks to mobilize the community around its development issues, with the aim of improving citizens’ living conditions through economic development of the community, by the community.

Our offices, easily accessible by public transit, are located in the Regroupement de Lachine, an eco-energy building equipped with geothermal energy, a green roof with terrace and, among other things, an eco-district service, the fruit of our work in collaboration with our partners.

Job Description :

We’re looking for a Local Economic Developmentin local economic development to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will supports the economic and social development of LaSalle and Lachine by initiating projects or supporting the initiatives of our local community, institutional or private partners. Through consultation and mobilization of local players, you will design structuring solutions to local issues by developing collaborations with our local and regional partners.

Responsibilities :

  • Support ongoing projects and ensure their proper development in the economic, social and heritage dimensions of the Grand projet de l’Écoquartier Lachine-Est.
  • Initiate projects that respond to the priority issues in our neighborhoods, i.e. access to the job market for disadvantaged people and everything that facilitates it.
  • Create collaborative links with our community, institutional and private partners in our territories, to create the right conditions for the emergence of structuring projects.
  • Design and develop projects that reflect the needs of our local neighborhoods and their residents.

Requirements:

  • University degree in project management, local or community economic development, land use planning or urban planning
  • Experience in developing and managing partnership projects
  • Good personal organization
  • Autonomy and initiative
  • Excellent writing skills in French
  • Mastery of the Office Suite
  • Experience in teamwork and facilitation (asset)
  • Involvement in community organizations or NPOs
  • Experience in developing and supporting entrepreneurial projects (an asset)
  • Knowledge of financial and technical resources for collective projects (asset)
